Mac In The Federation – Macmillan met numerous politicians from Northern Rhodesia, including Kenneth Kaunda, and the Governor, Sir Evelyn Hone. Mr Harold Macmillan's visit to the federation promised to be hot-spot of his long tour through Africa, and it lived up to its promise. He met with applause, a boycott, a brawl, and a bomb. He met the Federal Premier, obstinate Sir Roy Welensky, and many African leaders. He didn't meet Banda. But his tour was definitely a success. He gave whites much to think about, and Africans strong assurances.
