October 1958 - When tall bearded and be-goggled Guy Warren - the Ghana drummer who had been drumming in America for about three years - walked into Drum's Accra offices to say 'hello' to his old schoolmate, Henry Ofori, editor of Drum, an idea was born. This idea resulted i the Drum Jazz Festival, held at the Accra Community Centre, (30/10/58) and attended by over 600 people who, if they had known, would be thankful to the chance meeting between the two old schoolmates.
